Between February 2002 to July 2003 C&D (Sheet Metal) Engineering Ltd supplied and installed 535 No. Steel Map Presses providing the capacity to safely store the DGI Map Library’s collection of 1.2 million military and civilian maps, under a contract with GBL (now a Division of G B Storage Systems Ltd). Each cabinet was designed in a modular construction of 3 separate 6-drawer units, to provide flexibility for future relocation if required and with a powder coated finish in DGI’s corporate colours. The 18 drawer cabinets were specially designed and constructed to the high specifications demanded by the MoD.

These cabinets were a mixture of 6, 12, 18 & 24 drawer units with 50mm and 75mm deep drawers and locks. In critically secure areas units were supplied with special MOD approved Mersey Locks (shown in bottom middle photo below).
